Bronze Award Archery in the Mixed Team Recurve Event

Bisnis.comJAKARTA – Riau’s Indonesian archery duo Ega Salsabila and Diananda Khoirunisa won a bronze medal in mixed team recurve at the Hangzhou 2023 Asian Games after defeating the Iranian representative in the third-place match on Wednesday.

At the Fuyang Yinhu Sport Center, Ega and Diananda quelled resistance from Mobina Fallah and Reza Shabani with a score of 6-2.

It was the Indonesian pair’s first bronze medal in the mixed doubles at the Asian Games.

The Indonesian team’s quest for gold was complicated by strong Korean opponents when they met in the semi-finals.

Earlier, in the quarterfinals, the Indonesian duo faced stiff resistance from India’s Ankita Bhakat/Atanu Das, who managed to steal the first four points.

Ega and Diananda tried to get back up in the third set and grab two points. Then four perfect scores in the fourth set against India forced the game to be decided by a shootout.

The Indonesian pair again had two shots on target as India were eliminated in the tiebreaker by one point.

In the quarterfinals, Ega and Diananda were met by the world champion from South Korea, Lim Sihyeon, who was paired with Lee Wooseok.

Against them, Ega and Deananda’s goal must not deviate too far from the central goal.

And indeed. Of the 16 arrows shot by Lim and Lee, 12 achieved a perfect score and the remaining four scored nine points.

Although Indonesia matched their opponents in the second and third sets, South Korea scored four perfect scores in the deciding set as Ega and Deananda’s finish was shaky, collecting only 35 points.

The South Korean team continued their dominance by defeating Japanese representatives Satsuki Noda/Takaharu Furukawa 6-0 to bring gold to Ginseng Land.
