The newly formed NDA government in Bihar won the confidence vote in the state assembly on Monday amid demonstrations by members of the 'Mahagathbandhan'. In the 243-member assembly, a total of 129 members voted for the motion of confidence.
During the debate on the motion, Tejashwi took a dig at Nitish Kumar and quoted the Prime Minister's “Mann nhi lag raha tha” remarks made after his exit from the Mahagathbandhan and quipped, “Hum log nachne gaane ke liye thode hai.” ki apka maan lage.” (We were not in the coalition to sing and dance to entertain you, we had supported you in work).
Tejashwi asked the BJP whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi could guarantee that the JD(U) leader would not make another U-turn. “The BJP is making big claims on the Modi-Ki guarantee. I would like to ask them whether Prime Minister Modi's guarantee can ensure that Nitish Kumar does not make another U-turn,” Tejashwi asked.
Tejashwi compared Nitish Kumar to the father-like figure 'Dashrath' and warned him to be aware of the 'Kakeyi' in his flock. The RJD leader reminded the Bihar chief minister of the bitter comments made against him by the BJP leaders, who are now his deputies in the NDA government. Tejashwi also cited some of the comments made by Nitish Kumar while quitting the NDA in 2022 and wondered what had changed between then and now.
“I feel sorry for the JD(U) MLAs because they have to go out in public and answer. If someone asks you why Nitish Kumar took oath three times, what will you say? You used to criticize them (BJP) and now you praise them, what will you say? We (RJD) will say that we have given jobs,” Tejashwi said.
To embarrass Nitish Kumar, Tejashwi Yadav reminded the chief minister of the bitter argument he had with former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi and said, “In the last meeting when Jitan Ram Manjhi was expressing his views, the CM got angry .” Later, Manjhi Ji claimed that someone had given wrong medicines to Nitish Kumar and that his mental condition was not good and needed treatment. Now I have full confidence that Manjhi Ji will give Nitish Kumar good medicines.
Earlier today, ahead of the trust vote, the Bihar Assembly passed a resolution to remove RJD leader Awadh Bihari Chaudhary as Speaker of the House. Chaudhary, who had refused to resign even though his party lost power two weeks ago, was removed after 125 members of the 243-member assembly voted in favor of the ruling NDA's no-confidence motion against him. Only 112 members voted against the motion.
