Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani on Tuesday expressed his confidence that India will become one of the top three economies in the world, with the conglomerate recognized as one of the most prestigious companies in the world.
Ambani made the “prognoses” in a virtual speech on the occasion of Reliance Family Day, which is celebrated every year on December 28th on the occasion of the birthday of the group founder Dhirubhai Ambani.
“As we enter the second half of Reliance’s Golden Decade, I can tell you that the future of our company looks brighter for me than ever. I can make two predictions with certainty. First, India will become one of the three largest economies in the world. Second, Reliance will become one of the strongest and most prestigious Indian multinationals in the world, ”said Mukesh Ambani.
Taking into account the group’s growth engines, Ambani said Reliance Industries had done “remarkable things” in energy, retail and digital technology despite the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We have completely redeveloped our energy business. Now Reliance is ready to become a global leader in clean and green renewable energy and materials, ”said Ambani.
Reliance earlier this year announced plans to invest 75,000 billion rupees (10 billion rupees) in renewable energy over the next three years, including building gigafactories in Gujarat’s Jamnagar, from where the group’s old energy business started.
“This transformation of our oldest company will provide us with the greatest engine of growth for Reliance and will give many of you yet another opportunity to do things that are the first in the world,” said Ambani of the Reliance family at the event on Tuesday.
He added that Reliance had also revolutionized organized retail in India. “In the last year alone we took on nearly 1 million small shopkeepers and created almost 1 lakh of new employment opportunities. This growth engine will continue to create significant social value by offering our partners and employees unlimited opportunities. “
Talking about Reliance Jio, the country’s largest wireless operator, Mukesh Ambani said it laid the foundation stone for India to become the world’s first leading digital society. “Jio has over 120 million subscribers and has fiber optic for nearly 4 million homes and businesses,” he announced.
Considering a “brighter future” for Reliance Industries, Mukesh Ambani also listed three imperatives to building a stronger corporate culture.
“The first imperative… We must never become complacent about what we have achieved in the past. Second imperative … we have to constantly rethink and communicate the shared philosophy “We care”, ”he said, calling for empathy, compassion and the highest standards of integrity in behavior.
Ambani counted the transition from the older leader to the younger generation as a third imperative.
“Reliance is now in the process of bringing about a momentous change in leadership. From senior citizens of my generation to the next generation of young executives. At Reliance, we need to build a culture that will outlast its leaders, ”he said, expressing confidence that his children Akash Ambani, Isha Ambani and Anant Ambani“ will take Reliance to even greater heights ”.
