The first teaser of Marvel Studios’ upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder movie was shared by the creators on Monday night, shortly after the new retro poster was released. In the longer teaser, we see that Thor has abandoned his more aggressive side to root for peace. “My days as a superhero are over,” he is heard saying at one point in the clip. This is clearly a new Thor trying to be more Zen that we haven’t really encountered before.
Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord makes an appearance in a goofy play, and we also get a glimpse of Valkyrie as the new king of Asgard. Let’s just put it this way: She doesn’t look too happy to play the role. But saving the best surprise for last, the creators finally revealed Natalie Portman’s first look as Mighty Thor, the goddess of thunder. Adorned in her steel suit, cloak and clutching her hammer, Jane Foster looked her best in this new avatar.
The creators had also dropped a poster for the film before sharing the teaser. On the poster we see Chris Hemsworth’s Thor clad in his casual attire while raising his hammer high in the sky. The poster has a very retro feel to it, as does the look of our superhero in it.
The new poster was captioned, “Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love and Thunder hits theaters July 8th only. ❤️ + ⚡” shared.
Delighted fans jumped up to react to the new poster. One simply wrote, “Damn!” Another said, “Woah, finally!” Several others dropped heart and fire emojis to acknowledge the poster.
Directed by Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi, Thor: Love and Thunder hits theaters July 8th.
