The US awards two Indian-American scientists its highest honor

Ashok Gadgil received the National Technology and Innovation Medal while Subra Suresh won the National Science Medal. The award was presented to both on Tuesday (October 24) at the White House.

Biden also honored America's leading scientists, technologists and innovators at the awards ceremony.

This award is given to scientists who make meritorious discoveries such as saving lives, helping to combat epidemics, increasing food security and improving accessibility.

“This award is presented by the President of the United States to individuals who deserve special recognition for outstanding contributions in the fields of biology, computer science, educational sciences, engineering, earth sciences, mathematics and physics, and social, behavioral and economic sciences in the field of services to NATO,” the White House said.

The White House said the findings could help address challenging problems and provide innovative solutions for Americans and communities around the world.

The honorees' achievements have strengthened America's leadership in science, technology and innovation.
