The last two IPL league games take place at the same time; new IPL teams will be announced on October 25th | Cricket news

DUBAI: The IPL board of directors decided on Tuesday that the two games of the final phase of the league will begin simultaneously at 7:30 p.m. IST instead of the usual double-headed game that starts in the afternoon.
The rule until today has been a 3:30 pm IST game followed by an evening game at 7:30 pm, but the games will start at the same time to avoid any team taking unfair advantage if the last game is canceled an outfit that has a mathematical chance of qualification.
“As a premiere for the IPL, the last two league games before the VIVO IPL 2021 Playoffs will be played simultaneously,” said BCCI Secretary Jay Shah in a press release.
The last two games feature the Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians in one and the Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals in the other.
“On the last day of the league phase (08.10.2021) of the current season, instead of an afternoon and an evening game, two games (SRH against MI and RCB against DC) will be played simultaneously at 7.30 p.m. IST (6.00 p.m. GST).”
New IPL teams will be announced on October 25th, and new tender cycle for media rights begins
The IPL media rights tender for the 2023-2027 cycle will be published immediately after the appointment of two new IPL teams, to be announced on October 25, 2021.
It is believed that Sony and Zee, which recently merged, will join forces with current rights holders Star Sports to make an attractive offer.
