The Colombian Vice President’s visit to India will further strengthen bilateral relations: MEA

New Delhi [India]Oct 3 (ANI): The recent three-day visit by Colombian Vice President Marta Lucia Ramirez to India will further strengthen and diversify bilateral relations between New Delhi and Colombia, the Foreign Ministry said on Sunday.

The Vice President and Foreign Minister of Colombia Ramirez visited India from October 1st to 3rd. She was accompanied by the Minister for Health and Social Protection Dr. Luiz Fernando Ruiz, government officials, representatives of private companies and educational institutions.

Stressing that Colombia was an important partner for India in Latin America and that bilateral relations between the two countries had been strengthened, MEA said: until September 6, 2021. The visit will further strengthen and diversify bilateral relations between India and Colombia. “On October 1, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu Ramirez met and discussed bilateral cooperation in many areas.

Vice President Ramirez also invited the Vice President of India to visit Colombia.

On October 2, Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar held an extensive bilateral dialogue with Ramirez.

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Meenakashi Lekhi also met Ramirez on Sunday, with whom she had very productive talks during her visit to Colombia last month.

Ramirez also held discussions with senior officials from the Department of Science and Technology and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) to explore biotechnology collaboration, co-production and technology transfer in the development of vaccines and pharmaceutical products.

Two letters of intent for collaboration in biotechnology and medical research were later signed by the Department of Biotechnology and ICMR with their Colombian counterparts.

Before Ramirez’s arrival, a 48-person delegation led by Minister of Health and Social Protection Luiz Fernando Ruiz traveled to Pune, Hyderabad and Bengaluru from September 27-30 to visit Indian pharmaceutical companies and centers of excellence. They also visited ISRO facilities and met representatives from New Space India Limited (NSIL) and the Human Space Flight Center (HSFC). (ANI)
