REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The 36th Trade Expo Indonesia-Digital Edition (TEI-DE) 2021 has taken place. TEI’s total transaction value exceeded $ 6.06 billion this year.
That figure is well above the government’s target of $ 1.5 billion. That success also saw 366 percent growth from last year’s deal value of $ 1.3 billion.
Trade Minister Muhammad Lutfi said TEI-DE’s achievements are valued very highly, even amid the challenges of the pandemic. This is also in line with the successes in exports and this year’s trade surplus, which was the highest in history to date.
The total export value from January to November 2021 reached 209 billion US dollars. The trade surplus was meanwhile recorded at 34.32 billion US dollars.
“Although this year’s show was held digitally, the value of TEI-DE transactions could reach $ 6.06 billion. Nevertheless, we managed to set a new record, ”said Lutfi at the end of the 36th TEI-DE in Jakarta on Tuesday (21/12).
As a trading partner, China has become one of the largest buyers with a total value of 1.64 billion US dollars. This represents 27.8 percent of the total value of TEI-DI transactions.
This is followed by Egypt with $ 560.2 million, Brazil with $ 285 million, Japan with $ 252.6 million and India with $ 204.3 million.
In the case of products, the largest transaction was contributed by the sale of raw materials money of $ 2.52 billion. Then agricultural products $ 792 million, followed by chemical products $ 316.7 million and palm oil $ 307.8 million.
In addition, sales of herbal products and nutritional supplements also contributed to a sizeable $ 300 million transaction. “That may be due to Covid-19, it turns out that our biodiversity can be a new milestone,” said Lutfi.
The sixth largest product is paper and processed paper, valued at $ 298 million. Measured by the number of virtual visits, there were now 32,030.
The number of buyers reached 8,220 buyers from 136 countries. Of these, 3,720 are foreign buyers and 4,499 are local buyers.
