Taliban ban IPL broadcasts in Afghanistan for “anti-Islamic content”

The Indian Premier League (IPL) was reportedly banned in Afghanistan by the country’s new Taliban government. The best Afghan cricketers like Rashid Khan, Mohammed nabi and Mujeeb ur Rahman Participation in the IPL 2021.

The 2021 IPL season in the United Arab Emirates – which is also the Islamic State – will start on Sunday 19th.

Former Afghan Cricket Council media director Mr Ibrahim Momand tweeted that IPL broadcasts have been banned due to possible anti-Islamic content, girls dancing and the presence of trimmed-haired women in the Taliban’s Islamic emirate in the country.

Other journalists in the country have also reported that the Taliban government has banned IPL broadcasts.

Last week, Afghanistan’s new head of sports said the Taliban would allow 400 sports – but declined to confirm whether women could play just one. “Please do not ask any more questions about women,” Bashir Ahmad Rustamzai told the AFP news agency.

During the brutal and repressive extremist regime from 1996 to 2001, women were banned from all sports, while men’s sports were strictly controlled. Women are also largely excluded from education and work.

Many Afghan women and suffragettes around the world fear a repeat of this policy after the group toppled the US-backed government last month.
