After another round of rumors, this was recently confirmed Disha Vakaniwho rose to fame after playing the role of daya in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, will not return to the show. Disha went on maternity leave in 2017 but has not starred since, although she returned for a cameo in 2019.
Speaking to the Times of India, producer Asit Kumarr Modi said his team is looking for another actor to take on the role. Now Dilip Joshi, who plays Daya’s husband Jethalal in the series, has commented on her absence.
“Daya should return. She fooled us again (laughs). I don’t know what Asit Bhai wants. Let’s just hope Jetha gets to see it according to DIN to. I have worked with Disha for almost 10 years. Our coordination and chemistry was right from day one. And we had a lot of fun together. We did a lot of great scenes together. You can see her in older episodes.”
He added that she is a “great artist”. “In comedy, she had this uninhibited approach that female artists rarely have. She was wonderful. It’s been fun watching her not only as a fellow actress but also as an audience,” he said.

The show’s writers have explained Daya’s prolonged absence by saying that she is on a pilgrimage with her mother.
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has been running for 14 years now. It holds the Guinness World Record for longest-running daily sitcom in terms of number of episodes.
