Sri Mulyani meets finance ministers from India to UK to find solutions to food crisis

VIVA shop – Minister of Finance (Menkeu) of the Republic of Indonesia, Sri Mulyani Indrawati, held a bilateral meeting with three G20 finance ministers on the sidelines of the G20 FMBCG meeting. They are Finance Minister of India Nirmala Sitharaman, Finance Minister of Australia Jim Chalmers and UK Finance Minister or United Kingdom Nadhim Zahawi.

At the meeting, Sri Mulyani discussed strategic issues such as the food crisis due to geopolitical conditions, the availability of COVID-19 vaccines and the implementation of the energy/energy transition mechanism.Energy transition, mechanism (ETM).

“To support sustainable finance, strengthen the economy of the Asian region, strengthen human resources and Indonesia’s G20 presidency,” Sri Mulyani said in a statement on Saturday, July 16, 2022.

In the discussion, the food crisis became one of the main issues discussed between Sri Mulyani, the Indian Finance Minister, and the Australian Finance Minister. In which the challenges of the uncompleted recovery were discussed, including the food crisis that arose due to unrelenting geopolitical tensions.

Nirmala explained that the area that felt the greatest impact was the African region. This is due to the dependence of African countries on Ukraine as a food supplier in their country.

Therefore, Nirmala demanded, an in-depth discussion by world leaders was necessary. Sri Mulyani replied and said: Indonesia has discussed the issue of food security through a seminar on food security in this case food insecurity at the third FMCBG in 2022 and more concrete cooperation must follow.
