SEPANG (Malaysia): Honda Racing India Team’s Rajiv Sethu and Senthil Kumar finished 12th and 13th respectively in the first race of the second round of the FIM Asia Road Racing Championships (ARRC), earning seven points on Saturday at the Sepang International Circuit.
Starting 16th on the grid, Rajiv passed Indonesian rider Fitriansyah Kete himself on the first lap and continued until lap 4 in 14th place.
After that, Rajiv moved up a position on Lap 5 and Lap 6, maintaining his momentum to cross the finish line in a timing of 20:12.398s, earning four valuable points for his team.
Senthil also showed his full potential on the circuit, posting a best lap of 2:29.301s, his new fastest lap time at the Sepang International Circuit, to finish the race one place behind Rajiv. He earned three points for his efforts.
“I’m not satisfied with the qualifying session. My whole focus was on maintaining a stable position in the race and collecting points for the team. Despite the tough competition, I kept a cool head and focused on my skills to avoid making any mistakes on the track. With today’s insights, I will push harder in tomorrow’s race to secure my top 10 position,” said Rajiv.
Senthil added: “I was a bit nervous starting from the last row. However, I used all my strategies and learned to build a strong pace. Competing with all the international drivers, I gained a lot of confidence and set my personal best lap time of 2:29.301s at the Sepang circuit.”
