The opposition on Sunday attacked Narendra Modi’s government for demonizing, with former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi saying the only “unfortunate success” of the 2016 move was “torpedoing” India’s economy.
On Twitter, Gandhi tagged the screenshot of a media report citing the Reserve Bank of India’s annual report to state that there was a 100 percent increase in counterfeit Rs 500 notes and a 50 percent increase in counterfeit Rs 2,000 notes .
