Nitish Kumar may end alliance with RJD, recommend dissolution of Assembly: sources

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar may end his alliance with Lalu Prasad Yadav's RJD and recommend dissolution of the Assembly if he does not resign from office, sources told India Today on Thursday. Just a day ago, Nitish Kumar criticized dynastic politics and praised the Center and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for awarding Bharat Ratna to former two-time prime minister Karpoori Thakur.

Nitish said Karpoori Thakur never promoted his family – a comment many believed was aimed at the Congress and Bihar. A day later, Lalu Prasad Yada's daughter Rohini Acharya launched an attack on Nitish.

Without mentioning the name of the Bihar chief minister, Rohini said that whoever claims to be a socialist constantly changes his ideology. However, she later deleted her post. Sources told India Today that Nitish Kumar has sought information about Rohini's social media posts.

Just a day ago, former Bihar chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi claimed that Nitish would break the alliance with RJD after January 25. Meanwhile, NDTV, citing sources, has reported that Lalu Yadav called Nitish Kumar after reports that he had joined the BJP.

Nitish Kumar was upset with the RJD as it reportedly joined forces with Lallan Singh in causing a split in the JDU. Kumar caught wind of this and ousted Singh from the party's top post.

Nitish also remains silent about the developments in the INDIA Alliance, which was founded on his initiative and was only given key responsibility after the time had elapsed. The reports also suggested that he was upset that, in his view, the INDIA Alliance was being hijacked by the Congress.
