Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s wedding photos had fans cheering for the couple, and as Alia shared even more photos from the pre-wedding celebrations, it was evident that this was a small but immensely joyful occasion for the family. Ranbir’s motherVeteran actor Neetu Kapoor, had previously opened up about how the couple viewed wedding venues around the world but decided to host it at their home, and now she has spoken openly about how she decided to host a wedding dance performance alias.
Neetu told India Today that it was her idea to do a Punjabi dance performance gida and then add some songs. She said, “The wedding dance was actually just my idea.” Neetu admitted that although they didn’t have much time to prepare, they decided to pull it off with just a day of practice. “I told everyone we should do something, even if the time is short. I had to dance, I told them. So we practiced what we could for a day. We even planned, me and Reema. We intend to Gidda, this is like a traditional Punjabi dance. We tried something new. We made gida, then new songs and then came Ranbir. It was great fun.”
Neetu admitted this all came as a surprise to Alia, who had no idea there was going to be a dance performance. “Even Alia was surprised because she didn’t know we were going to do this. It was a surprise for her. It was very beautiful. If we had had more time, I would have made sure everyone was there and everyone was dancing,” she said.
The Do Dooni Chaar actor added: “But this time we did what we could due to the shorter time, but it was still nice. Both Ranbir and Alia were having fun. I just felt happy knowing I made Alia happy.”
Neetu Kapoor previously shared that she wanted to surprise Ranbir as well, but during one of the video calls during rehearsals, Ranbir could see that the family was preparing a dance performance, so he decided to join in.
Alia and Ranbir tied the knot on April 14 after dating for five years.
