MPR RI Chairman Bambang Soesatyo presented certificates of appreciation to more than 200 health workers who are doctors and nurses at Cempaka Putih Islamic Hospital in Jakarta. In addition to health workers, more than 200 4-pillar volunteers who were involved in the COVID-19 vaccination of the Movement for Justice and Solidarity (GERAK BS) were also honored.
Bamsoet said that since the pandemic emerged in Indonesia, GERAK BS has helped the government and community break the chain of spreading the COVID-19 virus. This includes helping to overcome the impact of the pandemic on the social and economic life of the community.
“In cooperation with various parties, GERAK BS has vaccinated around 15,000 health workers, the elderly, workers in the tourism sector, students and motor sports enthusiasts against COVID-19, which also helps with the financial burden. The State. Because all technical administrative costs such as syringes, spaces, etc. are borne by GERAK BS together with donors. The government is preparing the vaccine, “said Bamsoet in his statement on Monday (1/11/2021).
After presenting the award document, Bamsoet stated that Indonesia had injected 119,662,248 residents with the 1st vaccination on October 31, 2021. The second vaccination has now been carried out on 73,698,983 residents.
In addition, a total of 1,134,177 health workers received the 3rd vaccination. This ranks Indonesia 5th in the world as the country that injects the most COVID-19 vaccines into its citizens.
“First and foremost, China has provided 2.2 billion doses of vaccine. Followed by India with 1.05 billion vaccine doses, the United States with 420.6 million vaccine doses, and Brazil with 276.6 million vaccine doses. Indonesia is the best in ASEAN and number three in Asia, “said Bamsoet.
The Golkar Party’s vice chairman also said that Indonesia’s positivity rate is also improving. As of October 31, 2021, this value was already 0.4 percent, well below the WHO standard, which accounts for a positivity rate of 5 percent.
However, Bamsoet reminded all parties to remain vigilant because if people loosen their vaccinations and are negligent in implementing health protocols, a third wave of COVID-19 could emerge in Indonesia.
“As of October 31, 2021, the number of people infected with COVID-19 in Indonesia had reached 4,244,358. A total of 4,088,635 people have recovered, 143,405 have died and 12,318 of them are still recovering. Vigilance needs to be heightened, vaccinations need to be stepped up, “and health protocols need to continue to be implemented,” concluded Bamsoet.
