Modi praises students’ dream of making India a strong economy | News from Bengaluru

Bengaluru: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated the newly built campus of Dr. BR Ambedkar School of Economics University of the Nation and was impressed by his students who told him they wanted to make India a strong economy.

He interacted with the students for about 10 minutes. “The Prime Minister asked the students what they are studying and what their career dreams are. When they said they are working for the country and want to make India a strong economy, he thanked them and wished them well,” a senior Higher Education Ministry official told TOI at the event.
Modi unveiled the bronze statue of Dr. BR Ambedkar on campus. Later, Minister of Higher Education CN Ashwath Narayan and Vice Chancellor of BASE University Prof. NR Bhanumurthy and others presented him with a replica of the statue. When students wanted to take a photo with him in the administration building, he is said to have suggested doing it in front of the faculty building.
He later opened 150 industrial training institutes, which grew into technology centers to train young people in modern technology, including electric vehicles, industrial robotics and the Internet of Things.
Before that, he was received by the governor Thawarchand Gehlotprime minister Basavaraj Bommai, former CM BS Yediyurappa and others at IAF Yelahanka Air Force Base. Beginning his two-day tour of Karnataka, he laid the foundation stone for the 800-bed Bagchi-Parthasarathy Multispeciality Hospital on the campus of the Indian Institute of Science. It will offer an integrated MD-PhD program for students pursuing a career in clinical research and trained in hospitals and science and engineering laboratories.
Modi also opened the Center for Brain Research, an autonomous, non-profit research organization at IISc that is a gift from Infosys co-founder Kris Gopalakrishnan and his wife Sudha.
The initiative will facilitate research into the aging brain and age-related brain diseases.
