MeitY Startup Hub and AWS work together to help startups grow in India

Bengaluru: The MeitY Startup Hub, an initiative of the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY), has worked with Amazon Internet Services Pvt. Ltd (AISPL), which conducts the reselling and marketing of Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud services in India to drive technological innovation and sustainable growth of startups in India.

As part of this new collaboration, MeitY Startup Hub and AWS will work together to identify startups with deep tech skills and enable them to develop powerful solutions to address some of the biggest problems facing society in India. The AWS Startup Ramp program gives startups access to AWS Credits, a community of experts, technical training and support in the areas of cloud architecture, cost optimization, security and scalability.

The MeitY Startup Hub will facilitate and organize government sponsored innovation challenges to help startups with a focus on the public sector scale their solutions. Additionally, the collaboration will mobilize startups and the community of incubators and accelerators to curate and run startup acceleration programs with AWS.

The collaboration will initially focus on start-ups in the fields of healthcare, agriculture, public safety, transport, smart cities and civic engagement. Identified startups will be able to leverage the depth and breadth of AWS services in areas such as the cloud, Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), data analytics, and security.

“MeitY Startup Hub is pleased to be working with AWS to support startups in further accelerating, scaling and developing innovative solutions. Mentoring, technical expertise, cloud credits, skills improvement program and other resources provided as part of this collaboration will be of significant value to startups … ”said Jeet Vijay, Chief Executive Officer, MeitY Startup Hub.

“The combination of India’s size, its thriving technology community, and the willingness of the public sector to use new technology to address challenges in society is a great opportunity for startups to create impactful innovations …” said Rahul Sharma, President of the Public Sector- AISPL, AWS India and South Asia.
