Jayapura, Papua (Antara) – Indonesian Sports Council (KONI) President Marciano Norman praised the presence of young shooters who managed to collect medals at the 20th National Sports Festival in Papua Province.
“They are the result of a good talent search conducted by Perbakken (Indonesian Archery Association) and they are still young,” said Norman after receiving medals to three youngsters Tuesday at the Kampung Harapan indoor shooting range in Sentani, Jayapura province Athletes. .
The athletes are Audrey Zahra from West Java, Diaz Kusumordani from East Java and Gisela Lasot from North Sulawesi. Zahra won gold in the women’s 10m at PON Papua this year, while Kusumawardani and Lasut won silver and bronze respectively.
Zahra is a national shooter, and although she is 17, she has participated in many events at both the Asian and international levels. His successes included winning a bronze medal at an international tournament held in New Delhi, India earlier this year.

Norman expressed his pride in the presence of these young champions and is optimistic that the shooting sport in Indonesia will continue to develop through continuous renewal and training.
“What makes me proud is that the winner is still young,” he said.
Norman believes that with the presence of outstanding young athletes, shooting sports will have a bright future in Indonesia.
“We are optimistic that archery will become one of our main sports,” he said.
President Joko Widodo XX Papua National Sports Week (PON) 2021 officially opened on October 2nd and will run until October 15th. As well as 37 events.
