BAMBOLIM: Bartholomew Ogbeche scored a brace on both sides in the Indian Super League on Tuesday when Hyderabad FC took a clear 6-1 win over Odisha FC.
Ogbeche scored in the 39th and 60th minutes after Hector Rodas turned one in the 9th minute and Hyderabad took the lead so early.
Edu Garcia (54th), Javier Siverio (72nd) and Joao Victor (86p) made the scorers list for Hyderabad in an overwhelming second half. Juanan scored an own goal for Odisha in the 16th minute to make it 1-1, but after that there was one-way traffic until the final whistle.
The result means that Hyderabad remains second in the table with 15 points from eight games, while Odisha is seventh in the table with 10 points from eight games. Ogbeche is now the top scorer with eight goals.
The game got off to an eventful start with Hyderabad FC taking the lead in the ninth minute. Edu Garcia took a superb free kick off the near post and Joao Victor hit the ball when it was deflected by Hector Rodas.
Hyderabad’s joy was short-lived when Odisha equalized. It was almost a replay of the Hyderabad opening game when Javier Hernandez’s free kick ricocheted off a multitude of bodies in the penalty area and wrapped around Juanan’s chest.
Shortly after the goal, Odisha had a golden chance to advance, but Jonathas Cristian blurred his lines up close after Nandhakumar Sekar played a delicious cross past a falling Chinglensana Singh.
Odisha turned the run up with a couple of golden chances before Ogbeche headed it 2-1 from an Edu Garcia cross.
At halftime, Hyderabad led 2-1, but in the second half they swept Odisha off her feat with a brilliant performance.
Edu Garcia started the attack with a privateer run, defeated a defender and shot into the lower right corner.
After an hour, Odisha scored the 4-1 with Ogbeche’s second goal of the night, when the striker made a deft first touch of the ball and then hammered a crisp left foot past the goalkeeper into the lower corner.
Ogbeche was replaced in the 68th minute by Javier Siverio, who landed in the net a few minutes after his substitution and sank a Juanan ball into the net.
Siverio won a penalty five minutes from time after Gaurav Bora knocked him down in the box. Joao Victor stepped forward and pushed him past the goalkeeper from the point.
