ISL: Hyderabad FC takes on the NEUFC challenge | Football news

BAMBOLIM: Hyderabad FC are confident after an impressive overall performance against Bengaluru FC as they face a new challenge from NorthEast United FC in an Indian Super League (ISL) game on Monday.
Manolo Marquez’s men, currently fifth in the league, were able to clear their first game in their previous game and will next face the Highlanders, who are in mixed form.
NorthEast narrowly lost to Odisha FC in their last game on Friday, taking just four points from their five games so far this season.
“Regardless of their form, I think NorthEast are a strong team. They played a good game and they didn’t deserve to lose to Odisha. Like any other game, this is going to be very difficult for us,” said HFC head coach Marquez . who believes NorthEast will be a hard team to beat.
“Either team can beat the other at ISL this season and this is sure to be another tough game for both teams involved,” he added.
The NEUFC coached by Khalid Jamil has players like Khassa Camara, Mathias Coureur, Deshorn Brown and Hernan Santana who are in good shape this season, as well as Patrick Flottmann, Suhair who have also been consistent.
Subhasish Roy, who missed the Highlanders’ last game, is also back in training and could face Hyderabad FC.
Commenting on the NEUFC squad, Marquez said: “They are an aggressive team with a strong squad. We played them in preparation but it will be a completely different game.
“They have good foreign players and some strong Indian players too and I am sure it will be a very difficult game for our team.”
The Marquez men are currently unbeaten in three games, including wins over Bengaluru FC and Mumbai City.
Bartholomew Ogbeche scored a goal in each of these three games while Chinglensana Konsham, Juanan, Akash Mishra and Asish Rai defenders along with Joao Victor will be confident after conceding their first goal of the season last week.
“I’m happy with these three games but it’s not too much considering the season is 20 games. We have now lost in the last 16 games, but it’s the mix of young and experienced players, that will help us this season. ” said Marquez.
“I don’t really think about the previous games. Now it’s all about the Northeast game and all three points,” added the Spaniard.
Hyderabad has so far won two wins in four games against NEUFC in the ISL, scored nine goals and conceded only four goals.
