IPL 2022, RR vs CSK: Ashwin’s all-around show seals top-2 results for Rajasthan Royals | Cricket News

Ashwin’s undefeated 23-ball 40 brings home Royals and secures the top-2 finish
The Rajasthan Royals entered the game against the Chennai Super Kings with the clear intention of snatching second place from the Lucknow Super Giants. But CSK gave them a hard time, almost choking them before Ravichandran Ashwin’s experience and calm nerves secured the Royals a five-wicket win at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Friday.

Again, it was the collective potential and zeal that proved too strong for CSK. The Sanju Samson Royals will now face the Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 1 on May 24 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Previously, CSK’s Moeen Ali was on his way to a 57-ball 93 with 13 fours and three sixes on the power play.
CSK went 75/1 on the power play, 55 of which came from Moeen’s racquet, but they slowed thereafter, kept dropping wickets and eventually finished short.

The Royals’ competent bowling attack worked its way back after being pinned to the wall. After failing to overcome Moeen’s concentration and skill, the bowlers instead relished other batsmen’s failure to adapt and implement.
Other than the Englishman, who took most of the offered wicket, other CSK batters only came on briefly, a reminder that the season was one of the missed opportunities for the men in yellow.

With numbers of 4-0-20-2, left-armed seaman Obed McCoy was the Royals’ standout bowler. Yuzvendra Chahal was not far behind with numbers of 4-0-26-2, which helped him regain the purple cap.
Impressively, the Royals bowlers managed to put the pressure back on CSK but Ashwin ended up stealing all the attention, bat in hand!
