India’s U-19 women’s team loses 1-0 to Bangladesh | Football news

DHAKA: The Indian team lost to hosts Bangladesh by a single goal in the final of the SAFF U-19 women’s championship on Wednesday.
The only goal of the game came in the 80th minute when Anai Mogini made the difference between the two teams with one goal.
India’s first chance came in the 5th minute when Priyangka Devi collected the ball from a throw-in on the right and went to the cross. However, the ball found none of the players and went straight into the hand of the opposing goalkeeper Rupna.
Bangladesh had their first chance in the game in the 16th minute. A long ball was overdone by Maria and Tohura Khatun collected it and tried to make the most of it, but goalkeeper Anishka was up to the task.
After that, both teams tried to control possession but were unable to break the deadlock as both teams went into halftime.
India’s first chance came in the 64th minute when Lynda Kom tried to deflect the ball off Amisha Baxla’s right cross, but her header was collected by Rupna.
India made their first move of the evening when Lynda was replaced by Apurna Narzary in the 70th minute.
Bangladesh tried constantly to attack across the wing and send dangerous flanks, but the Indian defense, aided by their keeper Anshika, held out and foiled the attacks one by one.
With 10 minutes of normal playing time left, Bangladesh’s defender Anai Mogini found the net deficit in the 81st minute with her long-range shot from the right.
Despite making two moves to bolster the attacking front, India failed to create scoring opportunities and failed to take advantage of half-chances.
Coach Alex Ambrose made two changes in the 89th minute when Poonam came on for Nitu Linda and Anjuna for Amisha Baxla, but they didn’t do much.
