Indian spacecraft ready to fly to the sun – After sending the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft on a mission to the moon, India is once again preparing for a new mission.

The plan calls for India to send the Aditya-L1 spacecraft to the Sun to study stars in our solar system.

A few days ago, India managed to make history by becoming the first country to land a probe on the moon’s largely unexplored south pole.

According to the Indian space agency, a satellite to observe the sun will be launched this week.

The launch of Aditya-L1, India’s first space-based observatory to study the sun, is scheduled for September 2, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) said.

Space probe mission to the sun

India’s space mission this time is named after Aditya. Aditya, which means “sun” in Hindi.

The spacecraft will be launched into a halo orbit in a region of space about 1.5 million kilometers from Earth to allow the spacecraft to observe the Sun clearly and continuously.

“This will bring greater benefits in observing solar activity and its influence on space weather in real time,” ISRO said, according to Science Alert, Tuesday (8/29/2023).

Later, this spacecraft will carry seven payloads to observe the Sun’s outer layers, called the photosphere and chromosphere, using, among other things, electromagnetic field and particle detectors.

Among several goals, this research will examine the factors that determine space weather, including to better understand the dynamics of the solar wind.

NASA and the European Space Agency (ESA) have already placed orbiters to explore the sun, but this is India’s first mission.

India’s Achievements in Space Exploration

The unmanned spacecraft Chandrayaan-3 successfully landed on the lunar surface last week.

With the launch of this mission to the moon, India becomes the fourth country to successfully land on the moon after the USA, Russia and China.

The spacecraft’s landing marks a new milestone in India’s ambitious but cost-effective space program.

India has a low-budget space program and has grown rapidly since the country first sent a spacecraft into orbit around the moon in 2008.

In 2014, India became the first Asian country to send a probe into orbit around Mars and is set to launch a three-day manned mission into Earth’s orbit next year.

They also plan a joint mission with Japan to send another spacecraft to the moon in 2025 and an orbital mission to Venus in the next two years.
