In an article published on December 16, the Times of India notes that the official visit of the President of the National Assembly (NA) Vuong Dinh Huê to India took place immediately after the visit of the Russian President Vladimir Putin and was of great importance given that India and Vietnam have close ties with Russia.

During the Russian President’s visit to India, both sides discussed the possibility of working together to build a nuclear power plant in a third country, as was the case in Bangladesh. This opens up the possibility of trilateral cooperation between India, Russia and Vietnam for the construction of nuclear power plants in Vietnam.

The article indicated that Vietnam is India’s closest partner in Southeast Asia. Relations between Vietnam and India are taking on a new dimension with common interests in strategy, politics, security and economy. Both want peace, stability and security in the region and believe in multilateralism.

The author called Vietnam’s economic growth during the pandemic a miracle.

Vietnam is fast becoming an important manufacturing center and the strategic relationship between Vietnam and India is important to ensure peace, prosperity and stability in the Indo-Pacific region, he concluded.
