“Indian 2” | Waiting for the right story to come to mind: Shankar

Kochi: Director Shankar, known for his sublime vision and ability to combine grandeur with technical creativity, is back with 'Indian 2', the second part of the commercially successful 1996 film 'Indian'. The film is slated to release on July 12 and will feature a mostly new cast, with Kamal Haasan reprising his role as Veerasekaran Senapathy in the film.
Shankar, while promoting the film in Kochi, said he was waiting for the right story to come to him. “The right story was decided when I was busy with 2.0. When I approached Kamal sir about the film, he also liked it. That's how the project started. I got goosebumps when I saw Senapathy 28 years ago. I got the same goosebumps when I saw him again. I promise you will get the same feeling when you see him again,” Shankar said.

Produced by Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies, the film is distributed by Gokulam Gopalan's Sree Gokulam Movies in Kerala. The cast includes 'Chittha' actor Siddharth, SJ Suryah, Rakul Preet Singh, Bobby Simha, Vivek, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Gulshan Grover, Samuthirakani and late actor Nedumudi Venu. Shankar also remembered Nedumudi Venu and called him a great actor.
