India News | Raw food and worn seats: AI business class forecaster reports 'nightmare' flight to US

Mumbai, June 16 (PTI) A business class passenger on the Tata Group's Newark-Newark Air India flight alleged that he was served “raw” food by the airline and his seat was dirty, describing the flight as “raw”… “Not a nightmare.”

In a post on microblogging platform 'X' on Saturday, passenger Vineeth K said he chose Air India because it offers nonstop flights to the US despite getting cheaper fares from Gulf airline Etihad.

He said: “Yesterday's flight was just a nightmare. I was booked in business class (office flight). The chairs were dirty and worn out and out of the 35 chairs, at least 5 were not working.”

Vineeth claimed that the flight took off after a 25-minute delay: “After sitting for 30 minutes after take-off, I wanted to sleep (3.30 am) and found that my seat did not reach the height of the bed. The reason for this was that it was not working…”

Air India’s response in this regard is eagerly awaited.

“After flying with Emirates for several years, I recently switched to Air India as they offer direct flights to New York, Chicago and London…” said the passenger, adding that these are his frequent travel destinations.

According to Vineeth, he asked the crew to change his seat and was moved to another seat.

“I woke up a few hours later, the food was served and still raw (this has never happened on AI) and the fruit was stale (everyone on the boat went back),” he claimed in the post.

The passenger added: “The TV/screen never worked. Not that I looked at it, I just tried it and it gave me a 'not found' error message. After all that, the final nail in my coffin was that they damaged my luggage.”

Vineet K further said, “Bad food, worn out chairs, dirty seat covers, non-working TV (all) cost Rs 500,000 (round trip) and damaged my luggage.”
