India is a candidate to host the Olympics for the first time

This is a truly welcome initiative by India. » Although Modi refrained from announcing the candidate city, according to local media, the Games would be held in Ahmedabad in Gujarat (northwest), the prime minister's home state, if the IOC decided to award the organization to it.

If India wins the vote by IOC members, it would be the first time the country has hosted the Olympics. This would make it the fourth Asian country to receive this honor after Japan, South Korea and China. The 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles (USA) and the 2032 Olympic Games in Brisbane (Australia) may take place before India.
