Hockey India on Saturday named a prospective group of 30 members for the National Senior Male Coaches Camp, which will begin on October 4th at the SAI in Bengaluru. After a successful campaign at the Tokyo Olympics, where India won a historic bronze medal and completed a 41-year waiting period, Indian male hardcore will join the new Olympic cycle to improve this performance in Paris 2024, which is the core of the national coaching camp a mix of young and experienced players including PR Sreejesh, Krishan Bahadur Pathak, Suraj Karkera, Harmanpreet Singh, Dilpreet Singh, Surender Kumar, Gurinder Singh, Amit Rohidas and Manpreet Singh.
Commenting on the upcoming national coaching camp, head coach Graham Reid said: “The players have had a long and well-deserved break. I think they will be happy to be back at the national camp and focus on our goals for next year again.
“We will be reviewing our performance at the Olympics from both an individual and a team perspective. “
He went on to emphasize that the players have to leave Tokyo’s success behind and start all over before a hectic season in 2022.
“To be successful at the Olympics is great, but now I want the players to be mentally and physically fit for a hectic 2022 season with some very important tournaments starting with the FIH Hockey Pro League in February.
“This camp is more about strength and stamina and we will try to start slowly. “
The group also includes Hardik Singh, Nilakanta Sharma, Vivek Sagar Prasad, Simranjeet Singh, Akashdeep Singh, Mandeep Singh, Lalit Kumar Upadhyay, Gursahibjit Singh, Shamsher Singh, Varun Kumar, Jarmanpreet Singh, Dipsanjeepkey,, Suman Beck, Mandeep Mor, Ashis Kumar Topno.
