England opener Jason Roy was banned from the rest of the Twenty20 World Cup due to a torn calf, the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said in a statement on Monday.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has named batsman James Vince as his successor.
Roy pulled out injured because of the problem during England’s 10-run loss to South Africa in the last Super 12 game, although Eoin Morgan’s side had still qualified as Group I leaders for the last four.
We are all gutted for you @ JasonRoy20 💔
We will continue to play in the positive spirit that you embody.

“I am disappointed to have been excluded from the World Cup. It’s a bitter pill to swallow, ”said Roy. “I’ll stay to support the boys and hopefully we can go all the way and get this trophy.
“It’s been an amazing journey so far and we need to keep expressing ourselves and focus on ourselves.
“The rehab has already started, and although I tore my calf, I’m giving myself the best chance to be ready for the T20 tour of the Caribbean early next year.”
England, the world champions over 50, will face New Zealand in the semi-finals on Wednesday.
