Emirates News Agency – UPS Company Promises to Plant More Than 10,000 Trees for Packages To Be Shipped for Expo 2020 Dubai

DUBAI, October 17, 2021 (WAM) – UPS has launched the “Forest of the Future” initiative, in which every customer who sends a package to one of the UPS Expo 2020 counters has a tree planted in his honor .

This initiative is part of UPS’s commitment to help build one of the most sustainable global exhibitions in history.

In addition, UPS will limit carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by purchasing carbon offsets for every package. These shipments are recognized by a digital certificate of CO2 neutrality with specific details on the CO2 footprint and the remuneration earned.

The Forest of the Future initiative is part of the UPS Foundation’s global commitment to climate protection and UPS’s broader role as the official logistics partner of Expo 2020 in Dubai.

Customers can choose from the countries of the Indian subcontinent, the Middle East, Africa and Asia where they would like to have their tree planted, including the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Japan. As part of the UPS Foundation’s commitment to plant 10,000 trees in the forest of the future, 750 trees will be planted in the United Arab Emirates by October 16. In addition, 2,025 trees will be planted in Japan, where the next world exhibition will take place in 2025.

“Through our partnership with Expo 2020 Dubai, UPS is increasing its sustainability initiatives and ensuring we leave a lasting positive legacy in the communities we serve,” said Laura Lane, General Affairs Manager at USP. “As part of this effort, our Future Forests initiative will improve air quality by reducing carbon dioxide through our tree plantations.”
