The Post of Serbia presented the postage stamps entitled “Tennis: Novak Djokovic, the number one racket in the world” at an event held by the 34-year-old star on Thursday.
It was said that it was the first time that an athlete had a postage stamp.
“The stamps represent an athlete … the best tennis player today and the best athlete in the history of Serbian sport,” said a statement from the Serbia Post.
Djokovic is also a “great humanist and philanthropist,” he said, referring to his education foundation, which said it has “rebuilt 48 kindergartens and supported more than 2,200 teachers in their work across Serbia”.
The stamps show Djokovic and his sporting successes – in particular 350 weeks as world number one, 20 Grand Slam titles and 37 titles in the ATP Masters tournaments.
Earlier this month, Djokovic was named among the submissions for the Australian Open after intense speculation about his vaccination status.
The Serb had expressed doubts about whether he would defend his Melbourne title next month and refused to reveal whether he was vaccinated against the coronavirus, a requirement for the game.
