Deepak Hooda and Sanju Samson register the highest T20I partnership for India

Deepak Hooda and Sanju Samson registered the highest T20I partnership for India on Friday with 176 runs, beating the record 165 run tally held by Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul against Sri Lanka in Indore in 2017.

En route to this unique record, Hooda and Samson’s partnership became the ninth highest partnership in any men’s T20I tournament, the highest two-wicket partnership in any men’s T20I tournament and the highest partnership for India for any wicket in the T20I tournaments of men.

This is also the second-highest score against Ireland by all sides. He is preceded by only 252/3 scored by Scotland.

In the match, India opted for batting, scoring in the second and final T20 International against Ireland 227 to seven.

Deepak Hooda had the highest score with 104 while Sanju Samson contributed 77 to lead India to the top.
For Ireland, Mark Adair took three wickets while Craig Young and Josh Little got two each.

During his first T20I ton (104 of 57 balls), Hooda showed with his scintillating stroke play that he belongs on the big stage with both frontfoot and rearfoot.

While elegant and relaxed on the forefoot, Hooda was just as good on the backfoot, sending the ball over the midwicket boundary for a couple of sixes.

Hooda graced his shot with nine fours and six hits over the fence.

He was cleverly assisted by Sanju Samson, who played second fiddle as a substitute for the injured Ruturaj Gaikwad, but took his chance with both hands.

Samson made 77 from 42 balls using nine boundaries and four sixes.
