The Supreme Court said Monday that the center’s Covid-19 vaccination policy “cannot be characterized as inappropriate or manifestly arbitrary” after reviewing the material submitted to it. However, the Supreme Court rejected vaccination orders for the time being. Noting that the Union government has not provided any data to counter the petitioner’s data showing that the “risk of transmission of the virus from unvaccinated individuals is almost as high as that from vaccinated individuals”, the Court said, “through various restrictions imposed on unvaccinated individuals. Vaccination mandates by state/union territory governments cannot be characterized as proportionate.”
