Clarivates’ list of Highly Cited Researchers 2021

Seven researchers from Monash Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences have been named among the world’s most influential researchers in their fields as part of Clarivate’s list of Highly Cited Researchers 2021.

The annual list determines the world’s top 1 percent of researchers through extensive data analysis based on the number of frequently cited publications researchers produce over an 11 year period.

This year, Clarivate named 6,602 researchers from more than 70 countries and regions in 21 areas of the natural and social sciences and cross-cutting categories.

Australia had 332 highly cited researchers this year – five percent of the total list – and overtook Germany as the fourth most cited researchers worldwide. Clarivate notes that this is remarkable for a country the size of Australia with 25 million people compared to Germany with 83 million.
