Chennaiyin FC sign winger Romario Jesuraj | football news

CHENNAI: Chennaiyin FC, two-time Indian Super League champions, on Thursday announced the signing of winger Alexander Romario Jesuraj on a multi-year deal ahead of the upcoming season.
The 25-year-old from the Dindigul district, named after Brazilian world champion legend Romario, has two I-League titles under his belt.
Jesusraj is an exciting Indian talent and was part of the India U-13 camp. He started his senior career aged 17 with Arrows FC in Chennai Premier Division.
He made rapid progress and joined Chennai City FC in 2017 where he made his I-League debut and was a key cog in the team’s title campaign in 2019, scoring twice and providing as many assists in 19 games.
“I am very happy and delighted to sign for Chennaiyin FC. It is very special for me as this is my home team. It will also be special for me to play in front of the Tamil Nadu fans. I will give my all , what I can.” Pitch to support the team,” Jesusraj said.
Jesusraj, who has played 89 games in his six-year professional career, spent two years with the Lions before earning an ISL contract from Goa FC but was loaned out to Mohun Bagan where he claimed his second I-League title in 2020.
He made his ISL debut on his return to the Goan club from a loan.
Jesusraj scored a first ISL goal against NorthEast United and assisted four times. Jesusraj played 21 games for the Gaurs that season.
He won the 2021 Durand Cup with them, scored one goal in five games and also appeared in five AFC Champions League games for the club.
In the last ISL season, Jesusraj made nine appearances and scored twice for Goa FC.
