For many, Christmas parties are incomplete without a smack of your favorite goodies. Choosing the right restaurant for your Christmas dinner can be tricky. Something similar happened to Rick Arpino, who was resentful at an Indian restaurant in Bury, Greater Manchester, after “ruining” his children’s Christmas dinner. According to a report in the Manchester Evening News, the father of four had visited the Ruposhi Indian Bar & Restaurant with his partner and children on Christmas Eve. He ordered two Indian dinners for the adults and four Christmas dinners for the children.
Rick claims his kids just got fries, chicken, and a fried tomato. Rick hit the restaurant through a post on Facebook and Tripadvisor where he said, “What an absolute restaurant prank – Christmas dinner was ruined on the fly for our kids. “
Restaurant manager Shah Munim defended the restaurant from the bad review, saying they didn’t serve Christmas dinners due to the lack of interest. He also said they called customers before Christmas to take orders.
Munim said he also wrote to Tripadvisor complaining about the negative review. He went on to say that it is not worth the effort to cook a traditional British Christmas dinner when there are very few orders for it. He said they gave Rick and his family options of which to choose chicken and fries.
“But unfortunately they wrote on Facebook and Tripadvisor after they left. I don’t know why they’re doing this, ”he said.
Rick’s post received a lot of comments from people, some of whom defended the restaurant while others took his side.
“I think the Christmas dinner was ruined the second you decided to pick up an Indian for Christmas dinner,” a comment said.
Another comment defended the restaurant saying that while Ruposhi served wonderful Indian food, it shouldn’t have been the place for a typical Christmas dinner. The user told Rick that it would be better if he found another restaurant instead of beating it up.
On Christmas Eve, Ruposhi served nearly 80 customers, one of whom left a 5 star rating. “There were six of us here for Christmas, great food, fantastic service again and the staff’s curries were spot on. Thank you for a great meal, ”they said.
Shah Munim, who has run the restaurant for 11 years, said it was difficult to win back customers after the lockdown ended.
