BI and Reserve Bank of India sign information cooperation agreement with APU PPT

VIVA shop – Bank Indonesia (BI) and Reserve Bank of India (RBI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Bali on Saturday, July 16, 2022. Agreed on the sidelines by the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (FMCBG), the MoU aims to improve cooperation between the two central banks.

The signing of the MOU was conducted by BI Deputy Governor Dody Budi Waluyo and RBI Deputy Governor Michael Debabrata Patra in the presence of BI Governor Perry Warjiyo and RBI Governor Shakktanta Das.

With this MoU, BI and RBI commit to deepening the relationship between the two central banks and strengthening information sharing and cooperation in the field of central banking, including payment systems, digital financial innovations. In addition, there is also cooperation in the regulatory framework and supervision in the context of combating money laundering and preventing the financing of terrorism (APU-PPT).

The MoU will be implemented through political dialogue, technical cooperation, information exchange and joint initiation.

This MoU provides a good basis to promote mutual understanding, develop efficient payment systems and expand cross-border payment connectivity.

These initiatives are implemented through (i) regular interactions to discuss the latest economic and financial developments and issues; (ii) technical cooperation through joint training courses and seminars; and (iii) collaboration to explore connectivity of cross-border retail payment systems.
