The meeting took place on Friday (July 21, 2023) in Indore, India. At this meeting, the Minister of Labor and the Japanese Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare discussed four employment matters.

First: work effort Political advisor (Employment Policy Advisor) in the Ministry of Manpower. The Labor Minister said that the presence of a labor policy advisor from Japan is very important in supporting employment development in Indonesia.

“The benefits received include updated information on Japanese employment regulations and policies, as well as increasing the labor capacity of the Ministry of Labor through the development of the Sharoushi program in Indonesia,” the Labor Minister said.

The Minister of Manpower also said that the Labor Policy Advisor provided information on cooperation in the employment sector with other Japanese government organizations such as the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).

Labor Minister Ida therefore hopes that the role of Labor Policy Advisor in the future can help mediate and accelerate cooperation with the Japanese government, particularly with regard to inclusive and sustainable employment programs.

Secondly, the implementation of technical internal training programs (apprenticeships) in Indonesia. He said the training program has contributed significantly to improving the quality and competence of Indonesia’s workforce.

According to him, there is great interest among the Indonesian population, especially among young workers, in participating in this program. Apart from that, the number of requests from Japanese companies for training participants from Indonesia is also quite high.

“This is evident in the last 10 years, where the number of apprentice participants has tended to increase each year. In 2022 alone there were at least 6,755 participants. Another success of this program is the award IKAPEKSI received from the Japanese Ambassador to Indonesia,” he said last April.
