Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan, John Abraham, Shraddha Kapoor and many other Bollywood actors are now urging their fans to explore Indian islands like Lakshadweep instead of planning a vacation to Maldives. Bollywood urges fans to explore Indian islands
Akshay, who recently rang in the New Year with his family in Maldives, took to X to respond to comments made by some Maldivians against India's beach tourism. The actor wrote, “Encountered comments from prominent public figures from Maldives who made hateful and racist comments about Indians. Surprised that they would do this in a country that sends them the most tourists. We are good to our neighbors, but why should we tolerate such unprovoked hatred? I have visited the Maldives many times and have always praised it, but dignity comes first. Let us resolve to #ExploreIndianIslands and support our own tourism.”
John Abraham also became involved with X to promote tourism in the Indian islands. He tweeted along with some mesmerizing pictures of the Lakshadweep Islands: “With amazing Indian hospitality, the idea of 'Atithi Devo Bhava' and vast marine life to explore. Lakshwadeep is the right place to visit. #exploreIndianIslands.”
Sharing a stunning picture of the Lakshadweep Islands, Shraddha wrote on (vacation) to book. Why not #ExploreIndianIslands this year? Interestingly, Shraddha had shared pictures from her family vacation to Maldives in 2021.
Kartik also shared the same picture on his I can't wait to explore this beautiful Indian island. #ExploreIndianIslands.”
Salman Khan has also echoed the thoughts of his Bollywood colleagues. He tweeted on Sunday: “It's so cool to see our honorable Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi on the beautiful, clean and stunning beaches of Lakshadweep and the best part is that you have India mein hain (these islands are in India). @narendramodi.”
Here are some other actors who echoed their colleagues' thoughts:
Bollywood has always been in love with Maldives
The trend of exploring Indian islands came at a time when actress Bipasha Basu is celebrating her 45th birthday in the Maldives. She is on vacation with husband Karan Singh Grover and daughter Devi. Just like Bipasha, Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna, Rakul Preet Singh, Kiara Advani and Sidharth Malhotra, Janhvi Kapoor and Disha Patani among others are also regular visitors to Maldives. Taapsee Pannu and Parineeti Chopra had also visited the Maldives in the last few months.
