Air India partners with Thales for in-flight entertainment

Air India has partnered with Thales to enhance its in-flight entertainment offering. The Tata-owned airline faced significant bottlenecks as in-flight entertainment was subpar. Thales' AVANT Up in-flight entertainment system will be deployed across Air India's fleet of 40 Boeing 777s and 787s.

In addition, Thales will install AVANT Up IFE on Air India's 11 new Airbus and Boeing aircraft, with deliveries scheduled to begin in 2025. Thales is proud to build on the enduring relationship with Air India to support the airline's transformation in redefining the passenger entertainment experience.

The AVANT Up system has state-of-the-art features including an interactive 3D map, immersive route-based programming and Thales' Select user interface (UI) for improved passenger engagement. The interface provides an intuitive experience, allowing passengers to seamlessly navigate the extensive catalog of entertainment options.

AVANT Up from Thales includes Optiq with 4K QLED HDR displays for unparalleled image quality in the air. Optiq also features built-in USB-A and USB-C high-speed charging ports, making it a versatile choice for passengers. Notably, Optiq is equipped with two Bluetooth connections and built-in Wi-Fi, allowing passengers to pair wireless headphones and devices while charging their devices during the flight.
