Air India chooses Thales in-flight entertainment system

Chennai: Tata Group Airline Air India has chosen Thales' in-flight entertainment solution. Thales said the company will upgrade and retrofit Air India's current fleet of 40 Boeing 777s and 787s with the AVANT Up system, starting in 2024 and continuing through 2025.

In addition, Thales will install the in-flight entertainment system on Air India's 11 new Airbus and Boeing aircraft, with deliveries scheduled to begin in 2025.

Thales says its in-flight entertainment system offers capabilities to integrate a wide range of services and applications, such as an interactive 3D map and immersive route-based programming.

Thales' Select user interface (UI) improves passenger engagement and provides guests with the most intuitive user experience when navigating the extensive entertainment offering.

“We at Thales are very proud to deepen our long-standing partnership with Air India,” said Yannick Assouad, Executive Vice-President Avionics.

“This latest in-flight entertainment technology will enable us to remain at the forefront of aviation technology and offer our passengers a unique onboard entertainment system,” said Rajesh Dogra, Chief Customer Experience Officer, Air India.

Thales is a global leader in advanced technologies in three areas: defense and security, aerospace and digital identity and security.
